Most residential roof leaks are not failures of the shingle field. They happen where the roof plane is interrupted: a chimney, a valley, a skylight, a vent pipe, a wall intersection, a dormer. Those are flashing details, and flashing is where corners get cut.

Your roof is the biggest water collector on the property
A 2,000 square foot roof sheds well over a thousand gallons in a single inch of rain. Every drop of that lands somewhere. If the gutters are undersized, pitched wrong, full of debris or discharging at the base of the wall, that entire volume is being delivered directly into the soil next to your foundation.
That is why roofing, gutters, grading and foundation waterproofing are best treated as one system. A perfect interior drainage system can still leave you with a wet basement if a downspout is emptying two feet from the wall.
Roof repair questions
Can you repair a roof, or do you only replace?
We repair. A localized leak around a chimney, a valley, a vent boot or a section of damaged shingles does not automatically require a new roof. Whether a repair or a replacement makes more sense depends on the age and condition of the roof.
The ceiling is stained but the roof looks fine. What now?
Water travels. A stain on a ceiling is often several feet from where the water entered, because it runs along the top of a rafter or the back of the sheathing before it drops. That is why leak diagnosis matters more than patching whatever is directly above the stain. Flashing, chimneys, valleys and vent penetrations are the usual entry points, not the field of the shingles.
Do you do emergency tarping?
Yes. If a storm has opened up a roof, call rather than filling in the form. Getting a tarp on quickly is the difference between a roof repair and a roof repair plus ceilings, insulation, drywall and flooring.
Why does a waterproofing company do roofs?
Because roof water is where a lot of foundation water starts. A roof draining into failed gutters, or gutters emptying beside the foundation, is a common cause of a wet basement. Controlling water from the ridge to the footing is one job.
